Scientific study of the resplendent quetzal ranges from ornithology to environment, from economics to environmental conservation. Along with describing the bird's habitat of the montane humid cloud forests and efforts to conserve it, we discuss the RQ's distinct traits, unusual plumage and the very recent successes in breeding the RQ under controlled conditions.
