Tropical Science Center

The Tropical Science Center (TSC) is one of the most prominent institutions in the research and conservation of natural resources in Central and South America. Established in 1962, this private, non-profit organization is based in San José, Costa Rica. The center's mission is to generate, disseminate, and apply knowledge to promote socially and environmentally responsible policies and practices, specifically in the tropics. The TSC manages and operates five preservation areas: Los Cusingos Bird Sanctuary, Kelady Biological Reserve, Las Nubes Biological Reserve, San Luis Biological Reserve, and Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Preserve, where quetzals can be seen frequently, especially in mating season.
