Parque Nacional de Los Quetzales Hummingbird

The Parque Nacional de los Quetzales/National Park of the Quetzals was established on April 25, 2006, with the objective of saving and conserving the natural resources of the river valley of Savegre River. Its natural splendid beauty reaches throughout its mountain forests as well as its lower forests. These ecosystems are habitats for a great quantity of plant and bird species. Of the birds species that inhabit the environment, the Quetzal is the most abundant, hence the reason behind the name of the national park.  The park is located on the pacific side of the Talamanca mountain chain, 75 kilometers from the capital San José, and has an area of 4, 117 hectares.
