Museo de oro precolombiano/Pre-Colombian Gold Museum

The Pre-Columbian Gold Museum in Costa Rica offers visitors an extraordinary opportunity to see more than 1,600 pieces of worked gold that date from 500 to 1500 AD. The exhibition showcases how the pre-Columbian people of Costa Rica made and used the pieces and reflects their relationship with the natural world as well as daily life in their societies. The collection contains many examples of neotropical birds (most so stylized that their species is indeterminate) and icons of religious or cultural significance based on those birds.
