Cosmology

The resplendent quetzal has been the basis of a number of quetzal-based deities such as Quetzalcoatl, who in Toltec/Aztec cosmology is associated with Venus.  The resplendent quetzal in some indigenous cultures was interpreted as a messenger from the gods.
