For such complex forms as Jiménez'
sculptures, the molds must come apart in many pieces.
Jimenez plans where to divide the mold
and layers fiberglass with a mixture of resin and catalyst
over his clay forms.
After the fiberglass cures and hardens
he removes the pieces of the mold from the clay and armature,
which can then be discarded or recycled.
Jiménez stores many large molds
in a shed next to the old apple-processing plant that he converted
to a casting shop.
We can just see the mold for
Popo's head.
