?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
The ability to ask questions is the
foundation of inquiry. When you ask you discover that people
disagree about answers. Sometimes you discover that different
people's answers depend on their different viewpoints. Sometimes
one question leads to more questions. Sometimes your curiosity
leads you to try new things. In the end, the information you
discover and the directions you take often depend on the questions
you ask.
Looking at art can bring up many questions
to explore. Questions can be jumping off points to help you
improve your own art. Art can lead to new discoveries about
yourself, others, and the world in which you live.

·
Ask
questions about art making and about the art of others.
· Identify experts who can help you search for answers.

Where does the world of art cross over
into other areas of life, such as politics, economics, religion,
history, literature, or geography? Does art have anything
to do with mathematics or the sciences?
This program is packed with potential
connections to disciplines beyond art. Disciplines are specialized
subjects such as geography, mathematics, and history. Each
discipline has its own experts, such as geographers, mathematicians,
and historians.
At the end of each lesson you
will be asked to match specific questions with the disciplines
where you might find answers or guidance. If you follow the
Inquiry Track you will select an artwork that interests you
and learn to ask questions to help you better understand its
meaning and value. Questions can become the basis for further
inquiry either from art to other disciplines or from other
disciplines to art.
