Luis Jiménez [Loo EES Him EHN
ez] gets ideas and images from many sources.
He lives with his family in a restored
adobe school house in rural New Mexico.
Among the others who live with him
are horses, goats, sheep, peacocks, pigeons, chickens, dogs,
cats, and a pet raven named "Al."

Jiménez has drawn and carved
animals since he was a boy. He painted a deer and carved a
mountain lion when he was a teenager.
Today he still sketches animals, sometimes
with his children at the zoo.
Jiménez draws much more than
he can ever develop into finished artworks, such as this lithographic
print called "Chula" or sweetie.
